Mind Bubble is excited to announce its upcoming workshop: “What Do You Know? An Introduction to Philosophy.” This academic workshop is intended for middle school students and, as always, is 100% free. The sign-up form can be found beneath the workshop description below. The workshop will be held at Edwin Jarvis in Avondale Estates (88 N. Avondale Road).

What Do You Know? An Introduction to Philosophy

Taught By: Dr. Dan Peterson

Saturday, 5/19, 4:30-6:30 PM

You know lots of things: you know how old you are, what food penguins eat, and how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop. But what does it mean to say that you know something, and how do we separate the things we know from the things we merely believe? Join Dr. Dan Peterson as we tackle these questions and more using the tools of philosophy in our next fun, discussion-driven workshop. No prior knowledge required!

Registration preference will be given to students in grades 6-8. Once you sign up, you’ll receive a notification letting you know whether you’ve been registered or placed on the wait list within about 48 hours.

Our programs are always 100% free – but be advised that canceling your student’s registration within a week of the workshop incurs a $5 cancellation fee. Canceling within 24 hours of the workshop incurs a $10 cancellation fee. Not showing up without notifying us of cancellation in advance incurs a $20 cancellation fee. Because we never want money to be a barrier for students who wish to take advantage of our programs, we’ll cover the first $20 of cancellation fees you incur each calendar year. Cancellation fees prevent you from being able to sign up for workshops until they are paid.

If you’re interested in sharing your knowledge and interests with young people – fill out a volunteer application to let us know! We’re always looking for new workshop facilitators with exciting ideas!
