Katie Hiebert is the Director of Agriculture & Nutrition at Jolly Avenue Garden, an initiative of Friends of Refugees. As the Director, she helps to run the community garden and facilitate a youth employment program as well as other learning opportunities. Before joining Friends of Refugees, Katie directed the New Roots program at the International Rescue Committee (IRC) where she coordinated a Youth Food Justice Internship and a weekly garden club at Clarkston High School, among other activities. She also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Republic of Moldova, teaching English Education to K-12 students and leading girls empowerment workshops across the country. Katie has a Masters in Development Practice from Emory University and a BA from New York University. She lives in Atlanta with her husband, 2.5 year old son, and their beloved dog
